| At our meeting held on 26th February 2001, Bro
John Bateup presented to the Lodge a casket containing two Carved
Boab nuts from the Kimberley’s on behalf of the
Worshipful Master of Derby Lodge No 341. John said the two Lodges
share a uniqueness. The Sydney Lodge had members from many countries. The
Derby Lodge had a number of indigenous members and the carvings on the
boab nuts had Masonic and Aboriginal symbols carved on them to demonstrate
the importance we place on the brotherhood of Freemasonry.
The Boab Nuts were hand carved by WBro Gordon Marshall . WBro Gordon Marshall was the incumbent IPM at The Derby Lodge and an Aboriginal Police Officer in Derby, renown in the Kimberley for his Aboriginal Art. |
